Greater Napanee, Ontario, May 1, 2017 – Greater Napanee is the proud hometown of Avril Lavigne and Leroy Blugh. Now it is making news for being amongst the first municipalities in North America to use the latest in Progressive Web App Technology to help promote and engage its residents around their summer festivals and events. The Town of Greater Napanee is located in Ontario, Canada and worked with InspireHUB Canada (a subsidiary of InspireHUB Technologies, the creator of the IHUBApp) to find a unique way to communicate with stakeholders.
“The Town has been looking for ways to communicate quickly and promote special events in a cost-effective manner for some time now,” explains Ray Callery CAO of Greater Napanee. “What we found with this product is that it is easy to use from both the content development and end user perspective. As soon as we developed the content for one event, staff had identified hundreds of possible uses for interacting with our residents, businesses and visitors. The IHUBApp offers huge potential and is very cost effective for smaller municipalities trying to improve two-way communication. The fact that it uses Progressive Web App technology gives us many additional benefits and allows easy user access on your phone, laptop, tablet and other browser enabled devices.”

Dallas Texas, September 20, 2016 – Today InspireHUB Technologies announced the release of their free whitepaper, ‘The Future of Civic Apps’. The latest whitepaper teaches civic administrators and elected officials how Progressive Web App technology can provide smart cities with the ability to meet numerous community engagement needs.
Creating native apps as a way to increase civic engagement has been an aspiration held by most cities and towns but the costs associated with development has been prohibitive for both large and small communities. How costly? Government Digital Service in Great Britain estimates it saved $8.2bn USD by opting to not use native apps over the last four years! In 2016, a significant technology shift happened with the arrival of PWA technology. These new robust Progressive Web Apps cost a fraction of traditional native apps and boast double-digit engagement numbers while offering many of the same features. This includes features such as: offline accessibility when there is no internet or Wi-Fi available, universal access across all hardware devices ensuring no constituents are inadvertently left out, and compliance with regulatory issues such as accessibility standards and election campaign adherence.

Dallas Texas, August 12, 2016 – A Canadian town is the first to have bragging rights in North America as it launches the latest in Progressive Web App Technology to engage with its local residents. The Town of Tecumseh is located in Ontario, Canada and worked with InspireHUB Canada (a subsidiary of InspireHUB Technologies, the creator of the IHUBApp) to create a personalized web app experience for its residents.
“Progressive Web Apps are particularly well-suited to meeting the needs of cities and towns with their compliance requirements and their needs for citizen engagement,” explains Karolyn Hart, COO of InspireHUB Technologies.
“The Town of Tecumseh is always looking at new ways to reach residents and continue to communicate the work we do for them. We have three main priorities to engage our residents: communication, compliance, and reach,” explains Mayor Gary McNamara of Tecumseh. “When we learned about the IHUBApp and saw that residents controlled their app experience by joining the channels they are interested in, we felt that was a game changer. Using the latest technology means we can make the app available to anyone who has a browser. More residents can participate in this experience rather than those with certain phones.”
The IHUBApp comes standard with a number of features and tools aimed at increasing the engagement between residents, administration and elected officials including the ability to: participate in real-time polls and surveys, register for events, create private channels for sensitive communications like economic development files, determine the frequency of notifications, fundraising and volunteer management tools, along with allowing all users the ability to upload their own content for sharing through the app.
The Tecumseh App can be accessed by visiting www.tecumsehapp.ca in your mobile browser and following the prompts to add to your home screen.
